MY LIFE

Many of the locals know the "McGowan" name from my father Beau Sam McGowan from out on St. Helena Island. A book was written called the "Gullah Mailman" about my grandfather Sam McGowan; by my Uncle Pierre McGowan "Although a lot of my free time, when not with real estate clients, is spent taking care of my ill sister, I do enjoy golfing, bowling, cooking, walking on the beach and just being with, and meeting new people and friends. Another big hobby is the movie business. This got started when I assisted with the casting of many locals in the movie Prince of Tides, directed and starring Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte, and also catered the rap party. That same year I appeared on "The Price is Right". I also casted the extras for the movie, "Rules of Engagement" starring Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson, using 60 Beaufort extras and sending 30 extras to Morocco. (Thanks to Mark Finncannon).

Presently I serve as VP on our local Board of Realtors. . Have served as a volunteer for the Caroline Hospice Assoc. Member of the Exchange Club of Beaufort. and work with many community organizations like CODA, CAPA, AND serve as the co Director for the annual fund raising Carolina Clemson Golf Tourney which raises funds for the Senior Services of Beaufort County.

PAST

Before Real-estate for many years I was in the Hospitality business & owned a Popular nightclub (JP BOOGIES) and a Dining, Banquet& Catering facility (J. PIERRES) and numerous other ventures. I worked with many charities, United Way fund raising, a volunteer for the PBS Yearly television auction, The Cancer Society, volunteered for the American Red Cross, March of Dimes of which I served as the chairman for the Walk America in and man others.
